A Practical Guide to Human Rights in Islam

 Chapter 7

Benefits of salat

In our previous chapter, we talked about the importance and benefits of offering five prayers. These are for pleasing God, punctuality, brotherhood, joint system and the passion of sacrifices. Here one question can bother you in mind that if a course has been completed and you have passed the exam then why should we continue revising it and why are we so strictly ordered for doing this until death?  The answer is that God has already warned us about our eternal enemy Satan who is all the time in the search of opportunities to get you off the righteous path. For example, by missing prayers of one time we come to the point again from where we started. Once you start disobeying, Allah's fear in your heart starts diminishing and will be replaced by a beastly nature or brutality. As we human beings are the combination of Vices and virtues. Heart of a believer is as bright as light, and of non –believer as dark as hard coke. That is why God said, “Every day the believer has its own grace”.

No wise person would like to lose the reward earned with so much hard work. Can we disobey Allah to have His curse stamped upon us? Would we like to be counted among disbelievers like Abujahl and Abu lahab? So you would never like to do this mistake of not offering your prayers in time, offer them and always in time. If some mistake is done while offering prayers He will forgive it, but if you leave your prayers with intention then may God have mercy upon you. If the place and dress are not clean you will be forgiven but as Allah knows it was because of some constraint. The prayers left with intention are not forgivable. At least offer your “fard prayers”.  These are obligatory prayers.

Now I will come to the point to prove that offering rights of God is by means of offering Rights of humanity.  For example in a factory an owner has many workers some are hard working and some are not. If he is intelligent, which workers would he prefer? Your answer surely would be the ones who are hard working.

Our lord has no shortcomings. He is aware of everything, yet He punishes us on our deeds not our thoughts. It is His kindness.  But do you really think that He will be pleased and will appreciate you if you deceive Him.

Today it has caused the fall of us Muslims so much that our actions are different from our belief. Until and unless we change ourselves we will be cursed. Holy Prophet (pbuh),  had already warned us that “those will be the worst days of my followers when earth will produce gold and other nations will rule them.”  Sahaba karam (ra) enquired at that time that, would we be in lesser in numbers? The holy Prophet, peace be upon him, replied "no the numbers will be plenty." On sahaba's further enquiry, again he replied" fear of Allah would be no more in their hearts". Is it not that time we are living in? Now we should ask for forgiveness of God with true heart and offering human rights would be the first step towards it.

Are we not like   one previous nation disturbing the world and confiscating others properties if they deserve God’s curse. How about us?
