A Practical Guide to Human Rights in Islam

Haqooq ul Ibad

 Chapter 43

Why we need alliance with Allah

In the previous chapter, we talked about the problems of a new convert to Islam.  However, in spite of our character, if some body accepts Islam then we have been ordered to console him and help him financially if needed.  Do not confuse him by bringing forth any hypothetical questions, otherwise he may get fed up and give up Islam.  If any sect lost one person it will not be a big loss .ALLAH may give you another one but if this happens because of you, then you will be held responsible.  Try to be rational and considerate when you talk to a new Muslim.

We finished talking about verses of Surah Ikhlas, in our effort to develop a short syllabus, now let us go on to “Ayat ul Kursi”.  Let us read between the lines of these verses.  Allah is omnipresent and only He is eternal.  These verses are, “It is ALLAH!  Non else Who deserves to be worshiped, He is everlasting.( The one Who sustains, and protects all that exist.) He neither slumbers, nor sleep takes over Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and on the earth. Who is he intercedth with Him saved? ( with out his permission) He focuses up on whatever happens to His creation in this world, and what will happen to them in the hereafter. (No one can guess any thing of His knowledge except that which He reveals). His kursi (throne) extends over the heavens and earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving it. He is the most high and the most great.”  In this, there is a lot of negation as to the power of humans, and the positive is only for Allah.  It teaches us that we should attach all our hopes to Allah, Who controls every thing.  He is eternal while humans are mortal and sooner or latter they will die.  If someone cannot save himself from death, then how could he save others?  Nobody is safe from death, so much so that even the angel of death will die on the Day of Judgment since he would not be needed anymore.  Then the dwellers of paradise will be happy there and rejoicing that Allah fulfilled His promise and the dwellers of Hell will be sorry due to their shortcomings.  So we should put our hopes with the eternal (Allah).  We creatures are transitory and our joy and sadness is temporary.  In history, we know that the rulers of world when they pleased they appointed some minister, whenever they became angry with someone they got him and his progeny murdered, however whoever was in good books of Allah has lived in people’s minds for thousands of years and we recite their praises and pray for them.  We try to mimic the lives of the chosen ones.  Read the history to know that the followers and companions of tyrants who did not even care for the sanctity of Kabba, on their death beds they were repenting that in vane they followed the kings and not Allah and they begged for His mercy in their prayers.  They had Quran and Hadith to guide them, but they did not pay heed to it.  These people murdered thousand of human beings to please their king.  They did not accept that, though Allah can forgive sins against Him, but would not forgive the sins against humanity and usurping of rights of other human beings. When we are dishonest with the rights of others, only they can forgive us and Allah will transfer the virtues of such people to whom they have been unjust.  Every wise man wants to acquire things of permanence, be it a house, job or business.  We should not wish for things that are transitory in nature.  Allah is eternal and benevolent Who keeps an eye on your shortcomings and would try to correct your path if you go a bit astray. He is the one we should keep our alliance with. So we have to choose between the worldly and eternal Supremes.
