Mutual understanding

In our previous chapter, we were discussing effects of mother’s behavior and thoughts on her children even before their arrival in this world. You will be surprised to know from the present investigations that children who survived the abortion efforts by their mothers later turned out to be killers as the desire to kill is seeded in them since birth. Therefore, Islam has forcefully condemned abortion unless it is medically needed.

Thoughts are always important but during pregnancy they are even more so, as it is a matter of nation's future. It takes two hands to clap therefore father is as much responsible as a mother. In a household, father keeps things in order. But unfortunately due to false ego we make big issue of trivial matters due to which quarrels sprout between husband and wife. They stop communication for months and sometimes wife goes to her parent's house whereas they both should self assess the situation and forgive each other. Man's greatness according to God is not in false ego but in yielding and submitting, He said one who prostrates is the one closest to me. If both, husband and wife, think in this way then a home will present the atmosphere of heaven. Husband, after his work, would be excited to share his happiness and successes of the day with his wife and wife will be anxiously waiting with a charming smile to welcome him.  As she knows that, since morning, her husband was earning the honest living to have a triumph and success, not only in the eyes of Allah but in his own as well. Not only in the eyes of world an honest living is a jihad but it is also like a worship to spend your time in honest living and gain Allah's pleasure.  Earning with illegitimate means will neither help you in the upbringing of your children, nor will it make your prayers through to God.  As any worship and prayer is not accepted or heard from one who earns a living by illegitimate means.  God is pious and likes piety.

You follow this and you will find your home as a model of paradise, instead of that hell in which a husband returns home with all the worries of the day, as he has earned his living by disobeying Allah. If his conscience is alive it pricks him, his wife does not respect him.  Think of condition of children who are being brought up in this environment.

Let us now get a step ahead to see the importance of Islam in society and household, which is vanishing every day from our lives due to changes in our ways.

Being Muslim, Islam has demanded from every Muslim greetings and their reply.  Let us consider its importance as home is the basic unit of a society, so let us starts from there.  In our society while other things have been influenced by customs, duty to greet others has influences as well. It is a custom that youngsters are supposed to greet elders first then it is considered demeaning.  Islam demands that every one should take the initiative in greeting others, as he who takes the initiative will be rewarded more. So you see the injustice done to salaam.  Elders do not greet first so that they might not be taunted and youngsters avoid it as they do not want to consider themselves as lowly. When two Muslims meet in their pride, they avoid each other and sometimes the ones whom we consider the models of piety stand in a mosque with pride like a statue and to reply to others greetings they extend their hands as if other's hands have some filth on it.
